The Dark Arts Village came about in concept in 2017/2018 when I was working for a government agency, in Tailored Access, the CNE (computer network exploitation) operators called the “function” a “dark art”, meaning creating exploits that could provide access, sometimes persistent, in-memory access – since it was a relatively difficult skill and field to master – outsiders would say those are the “Dark Arts” of hackers, operators and cybersecurity practitioners.
Over the History of the CNE/CNA practitioners that develop exploits and covert access methods, were are often referred to as Dark Art Developers. In the case of this village, we rely on our previous experiences and that of our collaborative efforts from the entire association members in attempt to pay it forward and teach these skills to others.
